A scholarly day in Amsterdam.
We start with a visit to the Special Books Collections of the University of Amsterdam.
Here we have the opportunity to meet with the curators of the different departments, who will show their favourite pieces.
– 11:00 Opening of the Symposium: Provenance, Theft, & Forgery. The symposium, organized by the ILAB with the University of Amsterdam, will also be open to interested librarians, curators etc.
– 13:00 Lunch on the premises.
– 13:45 to 15:45 Continuation of the Symposium.
Those not attending the Symposium may join a guided tour of Amsterdam, with a visit to several places in the city (including some lesser known): the impressive Royal Palace; the Bibliotheca Philosophica Hermetica, shelter for intractable thinkers; Ets Haim, the oldest Jewish library in Europe, the Jewish Historical Museum etc.
Or take an afternoon off, and stroll the streets of Amsterdam at your own pleasure.
Amsterdam Book Fair participants can set up their booths from 12 Noon.
The evening starts | With a cocktails
